The hustle of the harbour. The antique streetlights. The old cars. The old world. Watching the waves crash up against a cliff-side full of mansions.
Best Visiting Months
All year round depending on seasonal mood!
Steps to the famous cliff-walk of Newport, this delightful mansion encompasses the charm of the old world. From whirlpool baths adorned by elegant drapes to a classic wrap-around porch to Victorian fainting couches to stoned-carved fireplaces to mahogany.
Historically Newport has had quite a story and you'd be wise to read up on it before visiting. So much to see when you're there that you almost feel like this city-by-the-sea is a museum itself! Most known for it's famous mansion-walk. The Newport mansions were "cottages" built at the turn of the 20th century by some of America's most well-to-do families and now, many of them have now been converted into museums (see - The Breakers). This cliff-path walk is one of the most memorable for both the gorgeous oceans views and the jaw-dropping architecture bordering the cliff-side. In addition to the magical miles of mansions: For the sailor at heart, this is a harbour to not be missed. Take a tour with the Sightsailing of Newport in July or August, around this time you'll be sure to catch the famous Jazz festival. Newport's folk festival in July is also a must-attend.
Wednesdays are for afternoon tea accompanied by many sweets and savouries.
Newport is famous for its antique cars. A vintage car rental is an authentic way to get around.
