Why stay

Located directly on the Pacific, only 8 degrees north of the equator, on the barely inhabited island of Boca Brava, Cala Mia is a Tiki lover's dream. You are surrounded by a tropical forest and beaches on all sides. Each bungalow is designed in a tiki home style by local artists with hammocks and lush vegetation around you. The Suites are only 10 meters from the sea, facing the ocean, with private beach access. Enjoy the freshwater infinity pool, while having a sundowner and watching the sunset. Visit the spa, located on its own small island - Cielo - connected to the mainland by a suspension bridge.

Why wander

Cala Mia is a part of the National Marine Park in the Gulf of Chiriqui, home to more than 100 islands (Islas Secas) with many secluded beaches to explore. The province of Chiriqum is a perfect place for eco-tourism offering rain-forest walks and volcano hikes, as well as premium bird-watching. Spend the day at Cala Mia and enjoy sailboarding, snorkelling or paddle boarding. Take a beach walk through the jungle trail or kayak through the mangroves. If you want to venture out, charter a sailboat and visit one of the isolated beaches nearby or go whale watching. For those looking for action, surf at Morro Negrito 45 minutes away, dive the submerged mountains of Los Ladronesun, or wake up with the sun for some world class deep-sea fishing.

Indulge in

Coco Loco cocktail made from coconuts growing on the beach. Fresh seafood.

Getting There

Fly into Panama City and take a connecting flight to David, Panama. The Holel will help you arrange a transfer by car or by boat through mangroves and lagoons.
