WHY STAY

Jicaro Island Ecolodge is situated on a private island in the Granada Isletas of Lake Nicaragua and is one of the country's most well known eco resorts.

Choose one of 9 private casitas, all made locally from Rainforest Alliance certified wood. Casitas are luxury two-floor bungalows, sitting above ground and surrounded by lush foliage, similar to a treehouse. Enjoy views of Mombacho Volcano with rich blue water on all sides. Relax on a hammock on your private deck, overlooking the lake. Take advantage of the morning coffee and afternoon "sundowner" delivery service.

WHY WANDER

Nicaragua is a land of adventure fitting anyone's taste. Take the kayaks and paddle boards provided by Jicaro and explore the many islands of Lake Nicaragua.

Take a tour of Masaya volcano or a hike across the two craters of Mombacho Volcano. Visit Cerro Negro Volcano and sand board down, enjoying a spectacular aerial view of the area. Enjoy horseback riding or swim in the Apoya Lagoon. Zipline through the trees and discover many new bird species.

INDULGE IN

Diablito - a native Nicaraguan dish, similar to a beef stew. Fresh juice. Just caught seafood.

GETTING THERE

Arrange a pickup from the Managua International Airport to Asese port, Granada, which is about an hour away. Jacaro is a 15 minute boat ride from the port. All transportation can be arranged with the hotel.

GREEN FACTOR

Jicaro was built from trees blown down by hurricane Felix with minimum impact to the island. All water supply, waste treatment and electricity usage is carefully and sustainably carried out. The Ecolodge actively contributes to the local community and sources local produce whenever possible.
