WHY STAY

The 17th century mountain settlement has been transformed into a beautiful one-of-a-kind eco lodge, surrounded by chestnut trees, mountain tops and the purest mountain streams. Milia was rebuilt with local limestone and chestnut wood - all by hand! The owners are passionate about this retreat as well as the environment and it shows. Stay in a cozy stone cottage - most are complete with a fireplace and a terrace or a private garden.

WHY WANDER

Enjoy the surrounding area with one of many hike paths through the cedar forest. Visit the beautiful beaches of Gialiskari, Pahia Ammos and Kountoura. Travel to Balos to see a secret lagoon or visit the ancient ruins of Lissos. Do a bread making class or take an art lesson. Relax with morning yoga or simply enjoy Milia's peaceful atmosphere.

INDULGE IN

Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Wine made locally. Stuffed peppers. Olives from the surrounding olive trees. Cretan rusk bread. Braised lamb. Various mezedes (small tasty dishes). Raki - the local drink of choice.

GETTING THERE

Fly into Chania - Crete's second largest city. You can take a taxi, a bus or rent a car to get to Milia. Be prepared for an adventure!
