Why stay

Welcome to the Burtigarden farm at Alstad in Valldal, Norway. Juvet is a unique hotel, incorporating pure Norwegian nature with modern, functional design. It sits in a beautiful valley, surrounded by majestic mountains and refreshing streams. The nine cubes on stilts are built individually into the landscape. No room is designed the same. The architect's vision of achieving a sense of well-being with minimal design comes through with floor to ceiling windows, letting light and nature in. See the mountains from your bed as soon as you open your eyes. For a more traditional accommodation choose the rooms in the mill house, the shed and the old farmhouse. Enjoy the steam room and the outdoor hot tub after a ski trip. Gather at the open fireplace to share stories of your daytime adventure.

Why wander

Any time of year you visit Juvet, there is an array of activities to satisfy any nature lover. Experience the best skiing and winter adventures, and watch the snow light up the landscape in the winter. Spring is spectacular as you enjoy the lush green fields below and snow capped mountains up high - getting the best of both worlds. Raft through the salmon river or try canyoneering. In the summer, make sure to visit the famous Geiranger fjord, which is on UNESCO world heritage list. See the powerful waterfalls "The Seven Sisters", "Bridal Veil" and "The Friar". Visit Atlantic Ocean Park and get to know the rich life under the sea. Go fishing with Actin and Stein Magne, one of the most well-known fishing guides on the Norwegian coast. Bring your catch back to Juvet, and don't hesitate to ask to have it prepared. Enjoy the vibrant colours of the mountains in the fall and take unforgettable pictures.

Indulge in

Communal dinners in the cow barn. Old fashioned smoked salmon. Always the freshest bread and pastries from Nikka on the Myra, a 97-year old local celebrity. Apple juice from the valley. Famous strawberry cream cakes from Åse at the Jordbærstova.
